We are thrilled to announce that several of our talented cadet and junior athletes from Western Australia have departed today, to represent Australia in two prestigious Asian Cup events in Macau and Hong Kong. This opportunity will provide our athletes with invaluable international competition experience and the chance to secure world-ranking points in their respective divisions.
First, our athletes will travel to Macau to compete in the 2024 Macau Cadet Asian Cup on Saturday, 10 August 2024. WA athletes include:
- Maelie Tournier (Women’s Under 48kg division)
- Thalia Armstrong (Women’s Under 63kg division)
- Hannah McHenry (Women’s Under 70kg division)
The following day, Sunday, 11 August 2024, the 2024 Macau Junior Asian Cup will see our junior athletes competing, starting at 8:30 am:
- Timeo Tournier (Men’s Under 66kg division)
- Keishin Ochi (Men’s Under 81kg division)
- Maelie Tournier (Women’s Under 48kg division)
- Alyssa Fry (Women’s Under 48kg division)
- Olivia Knights (Women’s Under 57kg division)
- Thalia Armstrong (Women’s Under 63kg division)
- Estela Hogarth (Women’s Under 63kg division)
- Hannah McHenry (Women’s Under 70kg division)
Following the tournaments, our athletes will participate in a three-day international training camp in Macau from Monday, 12 August 2024, to Wednesday, 14 August 2024.
The team will then head to Hong Kong for the 2024 Hong Kong Cadet Asian Cup on Sunday, 18 August 2024, featuring:
- Thalia Armstrong (Women’s Under 63kg division)
- Hannah McHenry (Women’s Under 70kg division)
On Monday, 19 August 2024, starting at 9:00 am, our junior athletes will compete in the 2024 Hong Kong Junior Asian Cup:
- Timeo Tournier (Men’s Under 66kg division)
- Keishin Ochi (Men’s Under 81kg division)
- Alyssa Fry (Women’s Under 48kg division)
- Olivia Knights (Women’s Under 57kg division)
- Thalia Armstrong (Women’s Under 63kg division)

We are proud to have Maelie and Hannah as part of Judo Australia’s 2024 Cadet Development Squad, and Timeo and Keishin as part of the 2024 Junior Development Squad, with Timeo also recognised as an emerging athlete under Judo Australia’s categorisation system.
