The 2025 Sydney International Open, part of Judo Australia’s National Event Series, was held at the Whitlam Leisure Centre in Sydney from 1-2 March 2025. Following a successful outing at the Canberra International Open, Team WA once again put up a strong showing, facing off against some of the nation’s top competitors.
With 20 athletes competing across 32 divisions, Team WA secured an impressive medal haul, earning 10 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze medals, demonstrating the depth of talent in Western Australia.

With two National Event Series tournaments now completed, WA judoka are shifting their focus to other major upcoming competitions.
Next on the calendar is the Fuel to Go & Play Judo WA State Championships on Sunday, 30 March, which will see the state’s best competitors battle for WA’s top domestic titles. Shortly after, many athletes will travel to the 2025 Melbourne International Open in early April, another crucial event in the national judo circuit.
